What is going on with my server.

It’s a long story but here goes. One of my new drives started failing. When I got the drive replaced I also got a new drive. I installed both drives but only activated the ‘replacement’ drive but had the ‘new’ drive installed in the case. During the first rebuild a 2nd drive on check was listed as degraded(Because of the settings mistake). The array took the new installed drive and added it to the array. Now I had 2 drive failure basically. Since I just moved to the new raid I did not have a back up, I tried to repair the disks but I think I made it worse, I’m still working on recovering data but at this time it looks like I lost A LOT of data.

Right now if I was asked what my plan was, I would say I give up, I would just sell my new server(that I loved until friday). Go back to my old server and just get stuff I want.. But that is just right now, that may change as I have already been working on back up plans if all data is lost.

I will post here as I know more. But there is no ETA at this time.

I thought it would take way less time to get everything working again. But everything seams fixed!!! Anyone that has signed up before this post needs to do it again, It was not working before and it was not checking that part that was not working. You can sign up again Here. I’m working on getting DataBase replication working soon so this can not happen again. But that’s  a project for next weekend.

And now I will get a email when you get sign up so user approval will be faster!

I see a lot of users still using there old log in. These do not work, and if you keep trying to use them I will have no choice but to ban you. I server does ban after 10 tries but once the ban is up they just try again.

Sorry for all the trouble, But soon the Office Spacing my old server and Building a new enclosed server rack will make up for all this.

The next thing will be getting a Pfsense box since my router is dying, well maybe not dying just being a BITCH. These problems would not really be a problem for most but right now it just decides not to forward ports to static IP’s , and QoS is being a ASS too.

So I have fixed some internal things with my new server it looks like the last thing I need to fix is the user sign up and https log ins. but https://music.jdsimonds.com is now working right!!

I crashed mysql and thought I had it backed up but the back up failed. I have lost all new user log in, and had a massive roll back to before I moved servers. This weekend I will be working to get it all back but all users will have to sign up again. There is no chance of geting this working before this weekend.. But as soon as I can I will spam facebook and what not to get everyone signed up again..

Well My servers have been stable for some time I’m still working on getting a new one because the load is so high. I have not had much time to look into converting mkv’s to mp4’s for streaming but I’m still looking into that. I need to farm out some of the work to machines on my network. But First I need to work and stacking the code and a database to manage the work load I think. But I guess time will tell.

My server is down. I’m not at it so I can not make any attempts to if it for a few days but I fear it will mean getting a new server to fix this. When I return plan is see if I can get it in safe mode and keep it running till the parts for the new server get here.

As of about 7:00pm pst today 07/31/2015 my streaming server has been down. I’m working on the repair now. I have the new router in hand but there is a bit of work to get it up and running. I bought the router a bit ago to move over to it. I did not know my current ‘router’ was going to fail.

I will comment on this post when I have it up and running. It should not be to long. I’m going to get the stuff for the streaming server set up and move over to the new router.
